n. A persistent or recurrent inability to attain and maintain sufficient swelling and lubrication of the vulva to allow desired sexual activity. This diagnosis is not made if this inability is due to a medical condition such as menopause, estrogen deficiency, vaginal atrophy, diabetes mellitus, or radiation poisoning. This disorder is usually related both to difficulties in becoming sexually aroused and to repressive sexual upbringing.
