n. (EP) An increase in electrical activity in a portion of the brain or other neural tissue brought forth by a specific stimulus. Thus a bright flash of light will reliably evoke an increase in the amplitude of the electrical potential recorded by an electroencephalogram (EEG) electrode positioned near the visual cortex.
