n. Any environment and the interactions between the physical characteristics of the environment and the dynamics of balance and change among the living things in the environment. It includes the understanding that change in the behavior of any one individual or species affects the whole of the system, that the behavior is a reaction to the whole system, and so behavior can only be understood within the framework of the whole system.
