delusion of grandeur

n. A fixed false belief where the individual believes that he or she is an important figure in some way. For example, the individual may believe he or she is Jesus or the Buddha or may believe that he or she is an important world figure, such as the president of the United States. As with all delusions, there is no amount of conflicting evidence that will diminish the individual's false belief.
