Cannon-Bard theory

n. A theory of emotion in which it is supposed that a situation is first evaluated in the thalamus and then simultaneously in the cerebral cortex, where ideas and feelings of emotion occur, and the hypothalamus, where physiological reactions such as flight-fight arousal occur. This theory was in reaction to the James-Lange theory, which suggested that emotion was the perception of reaction to situations.
