Brunswik ratio

n. An index of perceptual constancy given by the ratio (R - S)/(O - S), where R is perceived magnitude or intensity of the stimulus, S is the magnitude or intensity of the stimulus at the sense organ, and is the objective magnitude or intensity of the stimulus.
