biogenic amine
n. Any of a large family of chemicals with an amine group created within organisms including the neurotransmitters, dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine. Amines are nitrogen atoms bonded to three other atoms no more than two of which are hydrogen. Ammonia, NH3, is broken down by the replacement of a hydrogen atom to become an amine.
