attitude-behavior consistency

n. Attitude-behavior consistency is the degree to which an attitude toward an object predicts
behavior toward this object. For example, this consistency can be established by estimating an association (i.e., correlation) between people’s attitudes toward organ donation and their legal agreement to organ donation at a particular point in time. There are several factors that influence attitude-behavior consistency. Specifically, attitude-behavior consistency increases along with more valid and reliable measurement of attitudes and behaviors, more knowledge about the attitude object, greater attitude stability and confidence, and less two-sided information about the object. In addition, having direct (vs. indirect) experience with the attitude object and expressing attitudes repeatedly increase attitude-behavior consistency by making attitudes easier to recall.       - HLi, DA
