n. Any of a large number of belief systems in which the alignment of planets and constellations relative to Earth is believed to influence persons and events on Earth. Most ancient societies had beliefs of this sort, which have persisted in the face of contrary evidence up to the present era as astrologers were consulted to help make important decisions by such disparate individuals as Adolf Hitler and Nancy Reagan.
