n. (APS) The original name for the Association for Psychological Science, an organization of persons holding doctorates in psychology formed to promote the scientific study of psychology. APS was formed by a group of academic researchers who believed that the APA was too oriented to clinical practice and was not adequately representing their interests and point of view.
