agitated depression

n. A prolonged period of sadness, gloominess, pessimistic beliefs, belief in one’s helplessness and worthlessness, guilt, sleep disturbance, diminished capacity for focused attention and cognitive ability in general, accompanied by high levels of anxiety manifest in pacing, fidgeting, wringing one’s hands, or performing some other behavior whose only purpose is an expression of or distraction from anxiety.
