unconditional response

n. (UCR, UR) Any behavior that occurs in the absence of specific conditioning for it. Hypothetically it may be inherited or instinctual, but in a practical sense it is anything not known to have been learned. In Pavlov's original experiments with dogs, the UCR was the salivating of a dog when being fed. Also known as unconditioned response or unconditioned reflex.
