progressive matrices test

n. A test of intelligence intended to be fair to persons with different cultural backgrounds and different educational opportunities. In the test the subject is presented with a series of matrices, each of which has a piece missing, and is required to select which of several possibilities would correctly complete the matrix. The matrices are presented in order of difficulty, and the test has been found to give scores which are correlated with standard intelligence tests and particularly with performance scores on those tests. There are several forms of the test.
