premotor cortex
n. Area in the frontal lobe situated in front of the primary motor area (Brodmann's area 4) and behind the prefrontal cortex. It corresponds in general to the Brodmann's area 6, but the Broca's area (Brodmann's area 44), the frontal eye field (Brodmann's area 8), and the supplementary motor area (in the medial aspect of the cerebral hemispheres) can also be regarded as premotor cortex. It is involved in organizing sequences of movements. The premotor cortex is a dysgranular cortex (transition between the granular prefrontal cortex and the agranular primary motor cortex). – AA
