multivariate analysis of variance
n. (MANOVA) A calculation of the ratios of within- to between-group differences in more than one dependent variable in two or more groups defined by independent variables. This is used to test hypotheses about differences in the dependent variables between the groups with the object of being able to attribute any such differences to effects of the independent variables on the dependent variables.
