mood
n. 1. An affective state that persists from several minutes to several weeks which directs and colors perception, thought, and behavior. 2. In linguistics, a category of verb form used to denote the speaker's attitude toward the statement. Thus a verb can indicate a command (imperative mood), a statement (indicative mood), a question (interrogative mood), or a conditional statement (subjunctive mood).
