n. Intelligence quotient. This was originally calculated as the mental age derived from a score on a test divided by the chronological age multiplied by 100. In recent decades, a deviation IQ has become the norm. In this form of IQ, scores on an intelligence test within each age range are standardized to have a median of 100 and a standard deviation of either 15 or 16, which is used as the IQ.
