introjection

n. 1. In traditional psychoanalysis, the process of incorporating morals, ideas, attitudes, beliefs, behavior patterns, or some other aspect of another person into her/his self. 2. In object-relations theory, the internalization of a mental representation of an external object into the self, where it has influence on thought and behavior.
