n. The proportion of the total phenotypic variation of a population contributed by genetic factors. This is calculated in a broad sense as the variance due to genetic variability divided by the total phenotypic variability of the population. It is calculated in a narrow sense by the genetic variance due to additive genes divided by the total phenotypic variation.
