groupthink
n. A collective pattern of conformity, defensive avoidance of nonconforming ideas, selfcongratulation, demonizing of out-group members, and belief in the group's moral and intellectual superiority to other groups which is characteristic of some organizations. The causes of groupthink are believed to include high cohesion, isolation, rigid belief systems, poor leadership, and stress.
