global amnesia

n. Severe or total anterograde amnesia which includes both verbal and nonverbal information and regardless of the modality in which information is presented. It is often accompanied by some retrograde amnesia, but shortterm memory and perceptual-motor skills are usually left intact. It is usually caused by severe trauma to the temporal lobe or diencephalon.
