galvanic skin response

n. (GSR) A change in the level or degree to which the skin conducts electricity, which tends to decrease when subcutaneous muscles relax and to increase when those muscles tense and is used as a crude estimate of
general bodily tension. This has been used in crude and usually inaccurate attempts to create a lie detector.
