follicle-stimulating hormone

n. (FSH) A hormone produced in the pituitary gland that migrates to the gonads. It stimulates the development of the Graafian follicles in the ovaries, which are the egg-producing cells there, and it stimulates the Sertoli cells in the testes to produce sperm.
