n. Any substance produced by the body which has painkilling and euphoric effects similar to those of morphine or heroin. These include the enkephalins, beta-endorphins, dynor-phins, orphanin, and two kinds of endomor-phins, all of which bind to the same receptors as do morphine and similar drugs and block pain.
