egoistic suicide

n. Suicide that occurs when social integration within a society is high but the individual feels himself/herself not to be a part of that order often because of his/her own sense of failure to live up to social and personal expectations. This is opposed to anomic suicide, in which the person feels meaningless because of a lack of coherent social structure; altruistic suicide, in which the person is killing himself/herself for the higher good of society; and fatalistic suicide, in which the individual feels overwhelmed and hopeless because of the rigid structures of society and kills himself/herself to escape from it.
