ecological-level analysis

n. An analysis conducted using group means for data which reduces the actual variability in the data and frequently produces results that may be true of groups but are not true of individuals in the real world. This is an analytic technique often used in cross-cultural studies, in which cases are countries or cultures and the data are country- or culture-level data.
