coma

n. An abnormal state of unconsciousness marked by complete or nearly complete unresponsiveness to stimuli including the absence of normal reflexes. Physical or chemical brain trauma, interruption of blood flow or oxygen to the brain, diabetes, hydroencephalitis, and brain tumors are the most common causes.
