The tendency of humans to perceive that the color of an object remains constant despite the fact that the colors of the light reflecting from the object and striking the retina will vary with angle, illumination, movement, and other variables. Thus when we see a red ball, we perceive it as being the same color all over, although the actual light reflected from it will vary over its surface.
