buspirone

n. An anxiolytic drug (buspirone hydrochloride, Buspar) which lessens anxiety without producing sedation, dependence, or behavioral disinhibition which is characteristic of central nervous system (CNS) depressants such as the benzodiazepines. Its physiological action is not fully understood, although it has been shown to react with dopamine and serotonin receptor sites.
