bipolar cell
n. A cell located in back of the retina with only one dendrite branch and one axon, which connect light receptor cells to amacrine, horizontal, and ganglion cells. Bipolar cells modulate the activation of ganglion cells by depolarizing and hyperpolarizing in reaction to patterns of light striking receptor cells, thus making vision more accurate.
