A personality pattern characterized by preoccupation with power, control, and status and desire for adherence to a strict and simplistic code of values and behavior: enacting deference to those higher in the social hierarchy, expecting abject deference from those lower in the hierarchy, and characterized by excessive and irrational hostility toward those who deviate from or are outside the perceived social hierarchy.
