attribution of causality
n. The human tendency to create causal explanations for events in which two or more objects move in space in ways that appear, to humans, to be related. This tendency has been observed in infants as young as 4 months. There has been much debate in psychology about which perceptual events are seen as causal, whether this tendency is an innate part of the human mind, and whether causality exists outside the human mind.
