amok
n. An acute, violent frenzy usually preceded by a period of hostile brooding and paranoid ideation usually after an insult. The frenzy usually continues until exhaustion and is followed by amnesia for the period of the frenzy. Amok is a Malaysian word which has been adopted by Euro-American psychology for the syndrome, which was first described among Malaysian people but is also found in the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Laos, Polynesia, and Puerto Rico and among the Navaho people of North America. It was originally believed to be a culture-specific syndrome, but that claim has been disputed by its discovery in a relatively wide area and questions over whether it is simply more of a focus in some cultures than others.
