American College Testing Program
n. (ACT) A test of academic learning used to predict academic performance widely used by college admission committees in the United States. It is the largest competitor of the Scholastic Aptitude test (SAT). The ACT has subtests in English Usage, Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Physical Sciences from which a composite score is calculated as a summary predictive index of future academic performance.
