additive model

n. A statistical or other mathematical model in which multiple variables are used to predict another variable by means of a weighted sum. The most commonly used form of additive modeling is multiple regression, in which a linear model is used to assign weights to the values of predictor variables so that there is the least possible error when compared with other possible linear models.
